Your crisis plan is only as good as it is usable. There are a range of crisis plan formats available, so chose one that makes sense for you.

If we are working together, especially if we are having remote sessions, there are a few things we’ll discuss just in case your needs or distress increase and you would benefit from additional resources or support.

To create a crisis plan, take some time to explore and identify:

  • Warning signs of an impending mental health or safety crisis

  • Internal coping resources (ways to distract or calm oneself)

  • External support that you can and would engage with, such as friends, family, support networks, crisis lines, etc.

  • Ways to keep yourself and your space safe

  • Local emergency resources and contact information

    • This can include mobile crisis response units, emergency rooms, and crisis centers.
